1. Objectives of the Educational Programme

1.1 Objectives, as Specified in the Higher Education Act (1992:1434), Chapter 1, 8 §:

After completed educational programme, the student is able to:

Knowledge and understanding

- both orally and in written form demonstrate basic knowledge in electronics and computing techniques within sound production
- both orally and in written form demonstrate knowledge about the physical qualities of sound and about the functions of listening
- both orally and in written form demonstrate knowledge about recent conditions of production in media business, especially what concerns the impact of audio technology

Skills and abilities

- record, mix and complete mediated sound and music productions
- identify and both orally and in written form describe a number of presented sound events
- create and realize music production for certain target groups
- describe and analyse sound and music productions
- initiate, plan, lead, carry through and report sound and music productions of several kinds
- initiate, plan and carry through a scholarly work within the discipline and present as an essay

Evaluating ability and approach

- evaluate sound and music production according to standards in musical genres and according to practices in music business
- in word and deed show awareness of ethical principles connected to sound and music production
- critically analyse and discuss both productions and scholarly work

- in word and deed show awareness of ethical principles connected to sound and music production
- critical analyze and discuss both productions and scholarly work made by class mates
