On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- analyse and give an account of the structure of the Star Wars films as cinematic narratives
- analyse and discuss the role of symbols, characters, and settings in the narratives
- analyse and discuss themes, ideology, and myths associated with Star Wars
- reflect on the place of Star Wars as a phenomenon in film history and popular culture
Course Content
In the course, Star Wars is studied as a cinematic and cultural phenomenon. The course examines the characters, settings, narrative structures and aesthetics of Star Wars. Based on these, attention is paid to the myths, themes, ideology and symbolism that are associated with Star Wars. In addition, the significance of Star Wars in film history and other popular culture, such as games and fan culture, is discussed.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–G.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Star Wars - Movie, Myths and Worlds - 7.5 Credits | U–G

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement.
