Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course students will be able to:
- demonstrate insight in Portuguese phonetics and phonology in a way that allows the student to pronounce Portuguese correctly (regarding speech sound, prosody and it´s varieties of Portuguese)
- understand, analyse and recount the content of spoken Portuguese, of various genres and varieties
- in spoken production and interaction apply a varied and adequate oral language adapted to different genres (vocabulary, formal and informal speech).
Course Content
This module builds on the course”Portuguese Phonetics and Oral Proficiency” and consists of the study of Portuguese pronunciation and oral proficiency. The course focuses on exercises in interactive forms to improve listening comprehension as well as speaking proficiency. The students work with prepared and unprepared conversational training and oral presentations based on different media, as news, audio books and film.
Assessment
Assessment is based on pronunciation exam, oral presentations with underlying written papers and active participation in seminar discussions.
Forms of Study
The forms of study are lectures, seminars and group work. Portuguese is used as the language of tuition and English and /or Swedish are used as support languages.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
Reporting of grades:Module 1: Pronunciation and pronunciation test - 3 cr
Module 2: Oral presentations - 4,5 cr

- Portuguese: Grammar and Written Proficiency I, 7,5 credits First cycle level and Portuguese: Phonetics and Oral Proficiency I, 7,5 credits First cycle level
