Increase in the Number of International Applicants to Dalarna University

The latest statistics from the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) show a significant increase in international student applicants to Swedish universities and colleges. Dalarna University stands out with a remarkable 31.2% rise in applicants for international master's programs.

Overall, the number of applicants to master’s programmes increased by 720 compared to 2024. The growth is not only in international master's programmes but also in international courses and undergraduate programmes.

– It’s fantastic that so many people find our programmes attractive. Three of our technical programmes have seen the largest increase: Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Energy-Efficient Built Environment. Business Intelligence has had an impressive growth of 75% more applicants than the previous year, says Michael Oppenheimer, Development Manager for International Student Recruitment.

This positive trend is reflected throughout Sweden, with 29 out of 31 universities and colleges reporting an increase in international student applicants. The average growth is 17%, but Dalarna University has seen an even higher rise.

– I studied Business Intelligence, which now has the highest number of applicants following this significant increase. The international diversity truly enriches the learning environment and enhances the quality of our education, concludes Michael Oppenheimer.
