Professional Development – Education for Sustainable Development

To provide tools and inspiration for the integration of sustainable development into education, Dalarna University has organised two courses for its teaching staff.

Dalarna University offers its teachers professional development in the area of education for sustainable development. There are currently two courses available: a scheduled course that you take with other teachers and a shorter self-paced course. Both are described below. These courses have been organised in collaboration with the education company Snowflake Education.

Teaching Sustainability in Higher Education – from Theory into Practice

Course start February 14, 2024

This course builds on the theories of education for sustainable development and aims to provide practical tools and support for teachers to design their own learning activities. These activities can provide you with a general introduction to sustainability issues, provide training in key competences or more directly link sustainability issues to teachers’ individual subject areas. In addition to lectures and self-studies, the course also provides the opportunity both to meet colleagues at Dalarna University and to discuss various challenges as well as to get feedback on course assignments that you can apply in your teaching. The course takes about 20 to 40 hours to complete. All course material is in English, while seminars and other communication can be in Swedish or English, depending on the wishes of participants.

Course dates spring 2024:

  • February 14 (campus), 10.40 am - 12.40 pm
  • April 10 (digital), 2-4 pm
  • May 29 (campus), 2-4 pm
