Extended opening hours at the library

As a student or employee at the university, you have access to the library even when it is not staffed. On this page you find information on how it works and tips on what to do if something happens.

The library is staffed and open to everyone from 8.00 to 16.00 on weekdays. In addition to that, as a student or employee, you can access the library with your keycard from 16.00 to 20.00 on weekdays and from 10.00 to 16.00 on Saturdays. These hours apply to both the libraries in Falun and Borlänge.

During extended opening hours, only certain entrance doors can be used. In Falun, the entrance through Ljusgården and the reception is used, and in Borlänge, the smaller side entrance by the magazines is used.

Did you receive your keycard in Borlänge before August 2024? If so, you need to replace it at the Helpdesk in Falun to gain access to the Falun library during extended hours.

Practical information

How do I borrow books when the library isn't staffed?

You use our self-service machines. You need your keycard and the card's PIN code.

Are the self-service machines out of order?

If you want to borrow books and the self-service machine is not working, you need to come back during staffed opening hours to borrow the books.

If you want to return books, there are book return slots outside the library buildings.

How does it work for public visitors (not affiliated with the university)?

If you are not an employee or student at the university, you are welcome during our staffed opening hours.

What should I do if something happens when the library is not staffed?
