Examples of Development Projects
Dalarna University has provided its expertise to the urban development project titled Jakobsdalen, which is run by Borlänge kommun förvaltning AB. Jakobsdalen is an example of regional innovation for sustainable community development that incorporates new housing, businesses/organisations, urban gardening, meeting places, and sustainable traffic in an urban area.
This approach can be used effectively in the early stages of community planning.
Dalarna University has promoted creativity and innovation capacity through collaboration between different sectors, and this in turn has meant an increased capacity to adapt and complete work. Through discussion, key projects have provided concrete examples of sustainable development in Jakobsdalen and paved the way for similar initiatives.
This approach can be used effectively in the early stages of community planning. Jakobsdalen serves as a test arena for research and innovation in areas such as smart transport solutions and energy efficiency. The project has also resulted in degree projects and collaboration with the graduate school Future Proof Cities so that developments in the area can be followed.
