Campus and Online Exams

Exams can take place at Campus Borlänge or Campus Falun or online. You must always register to take an exam.

Register for an Exam

You register to take an exam on the webpage Examination Services.

Registration opens one month before the date of the exam and closes two weeks before the date of the exam. If you do not register, you cannot take the exam. In recent years, students who did not register were able to take an exam if place allowed. This is no longer possible. Instead, if you do not register, you will have to wait until the next time the exam is held.

You can check to see if you are registered under the heading "Examinations you are signed up for" on the webpage Examination Services.

Information About the Different Forms of Examination

Exams on Campus

You must be in the room at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. You can see where your exam will be held on the student web. If you are not in the room ten minutes before the exam is scheduled to start, you will be unable to start the exam. Instead, you will need to wait with other late students and together you will be let into the exam 30 minutes after the start time. This means you will have less time to complete the exam.

Digital Exams on Campus

There are two types of digital exams on campus: exams in Inspera that take place on university computers and Canvas exams where you need to take your own laptop computer to a university room. Before you take the exam in Inspera, we recommend that you test logging in to Inspera. To log in to Inspera, you need your user information for your university account.

Your laptop must have, at minimum, an 11-inch screen. You cannot use a tablet or a telephone. If you do not have a laptop for the Canvas exam, let your teacher know.

You cannot be granted late access to the digital exam once it has started.

Online Exams

You need to be in the room on Zoom no later than 30 minutes before the start of the exam. If you arrive later than this, there is no guarantee you will receive all the time for the exam. If you are not in the room 10 minutes before the exam starts, you will not be able to take the exam.

To see the exam rooms, log in to the Student Web and click on "Meeting - Online Meeting Rooms (Zoom)".

Technical Requirements - Online Exams

To take an online exam, you need the following:

  • Internet connection (at least 2 Mbit/s).
  • A computer with (at minimum) a 13-inch screen.
  • A headset or speaker/microphone so that you can communicate with the examination invigilator
  • An external web camera or other device with a camera that you can film yourself with. The camera must be placed as shown in the picture below. The examination invigilator must be able to see you, your desk, and what is on your screen at all times.
  • A telephone that the examination invigilator can contact you on. If you are using the camera on your mobile phone, you must have another phone that is visible on your desk that you can be contacted on at all times.

You must also be logged in to SSO in Zoom according to the instructions on this webpage: Zoom.
