Spanish I: Phonetics and Oral Language Proficiency

First Cycle

Starts week 36, 2024

On completion of the course, students shall, in Spanish, be able to:

  • explain and compare phonetic and phonological aspects of the Spanish language in Spanish-speaking regions
  • demonstrate knowledge of language phonology in relation to rules for spelling and word stress
  • compare the phonetic and phonological features of different Spanish-speaking regions
  • comment on the content of longer presentations that demonstrate different registers of spoken Spanish, such as news, TV programmes, web-based audiovisual media, and films
  • communicate orally with an acceptable pronunciation
  • debate on a particular subject and in their own oral presentation demonstrate the ability to express themselves coherently and correctly
  • apply presentation techniques in oral presentations.

Surf on the Internet, read and send emails, use a word-processing programme (e.g. Word). Plug in peripherals to your computer, install programmes and adapt installations for your computer.

Computer Capacity:

Access to a computer (Not a mini pc, tablet or similar) that is not older than two years (or equivalent) and broadband connection, at least 2 Mbit/s (not mobile broadband, because mobile broadband can vary considerably in speed).

Means of Education:

Higher rate of web-based communication where our learning platform (Learn/Canvas) is a natural element of the course, as are web-based meetings using sound and image. Lectures can be broadcast live or can alternatively be made available afterwards online. Use more advanced programmes – for example, simulation programmes.
