Learning outcomes for the course
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- explain, both orally and in writing, the history of Islam in Africa
- discuss and problematise the relationships between different Islamic orientations, and their relationship to surrounding societies in Africa
- discuss and apply relevant theories on the role of Islam in history and society in Africa
- independently and critically interpret and analyse processes, mechanisms and strategies within different orientations of Islam in Africa.
