African Studies: The Dynamics of African Societies

On completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  • show a deepened knowledge of a selection of political, social and economic features of African societies since the early 19th century
  • demonstrate the ability to analyse issues of continuity and change in African societies
  • demonstrate an understanding of synchronic and diachronic approaches to the study of African societies and to the study of the relationship between Europe and Africa over time.
