The course deals with advanced switching and routing technology and their applications within small and medium sized local networks, where both static and dynamic routing concepts are included. Great emphasis is placed on the design of scalable and sustainable networks where redundancy, aggregation and security are central concepts. Furthermore, the course addresses the basics of modern wireless technology (WLAN technology) on local area networks, its functions, devices and applications.
IT security and testing are concepts that run through the entire course and that recur within all parts of the course. The course deals with threats that are conceivable, how we can identify and mitigate / limit the effect of these, and how we are able to test and verify that we have reached the degree of security that was the goal.
