Knowledge and Understanding

Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to:

  • explain the importance of normalization for a design solution of a relational database
  • explain the importance of clear identifiers for tables in relational databases

Skills and Abilities
Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to:

  • apply basic principles of relational databases in accordance with the relational model
  • use conceptual modelling and graphical description techniques to design relational databases that conform to at least third normal form
  • manipulate data and database objects
  • use normalization to analyze, verify, and modify a data model
