Learning outcomes for the course
The course gives an introduction to German children‘s and youth literature with focus on contemporary texts. Literature in different genres is discussed and analysed from a diversity perspective, partly based on general literature terminology, partly with special focus on the children’s literature terminology. Upon completion of the course students shall be able to:
- explain children‘s and youth literature in German-speaking countries and its history
- apply literary concepts and use literary analytical techniques
- reflect on the educational message in the texts
- reflect on how children‘s and youth literature can be applied using different digital media in language teaching at different levels and in different age groups
- critically evaluate their own learning.
