The overall goal is that students will learn the theoretical foundations of organization, leadership and teamwork, and acquiring knowledge about improvement on patient safety with a focus on person-centered care.
After compleating the course the student should be able to:
understand the healthcare organization‘s structure from a social and caregivers perspective and the importance for the planning of safe care,
reflect, analyze and evaluate the importence of the organization and the leadership for nursing quality based on the nurse‘s role as a leader,
describe the organization‘s importance in everyday life and at special events and disasters,
describe the leadership and organizational theories and group dynamic processes, discuss patient safety based on the laws and regulations governing the work of safe care,
reflect on the working environment to opportunities to engage in person-centered and safe care,
describe the group dynamic processes and potential conflicts in the working group,
discuss models for improvement from a patient safety perspective
reflect on the nurse‘s responsibility and approach to promote a good working environment and to identify and reflect on conflict management,
Surf on the Internet, read and send emails, use a word-processing programme (e.g. Word). Connect a camera and headphones to the computer and install a programme using instructions.
Access to a computer (Not a mini pc, tablet or similar) that is not older than two years (or equivalent) and broadband connection, at least 2 Mbit/s (not mobile broadband, because mobile broadband can vary considerably in speed).
Higher rate of web-based communication where our learning platform (Learn/Canvas) is a natural element of the course. Web-based meetings with sound and image where simple presentations can be held. Lectures can be broadcast live or can alternatively be made available afterwards online.
Literature lists are published at the latest one month ahead of the course start date.
