Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- discuss and problematise the identity of history studies in relation to various scholarly ant theoretical contexts related to the humanities
- account for and critically evaluate a selection of contemporary research in history studies
- demonstrate an independent ability to relate to critically reflect on important theories and methods used within the field of history studies.
Course Content
The course deals with various schools of thought within the humanities, as well as the development of history as an academic discipline. Students study theories and methods used in various fields of scholarship in history studies.
Assessment
- Active seminar participation
- Oral reports
- Written assignments
Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
Grades are reported as follows:
- History - Theory and Method - 7.5 Credits | U–VG
Prerequisites
- History III, 22.5 credits
Other Information
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
