Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • discuss and problematise the identity of religious studies in relation to various theoretical and historical contexts within the humanities
  • describe and critically evaluate elements of the research within contemporary religious studies
  • independently and critically reflect on some important theories and methods used in the field of religious studies.

Course Content

The course deals with various orientations of theoretical and historical study within the humanities that have relevance for religious studies, as well as the historical development of religious studies as an academic discipline. The course also includes the study of theories and methods used in various fields of religious studies.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Science History, Theory and Method in Religious Studies - 7.5 Credits | U–VG

Prerequisites

  • Religious Studies III 22.5 credits

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
