Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- describe relevant concepts, principles and theories relating to social science research approaches and methods,
- explain their choice of scientific research approaches and methods based on a problem formulation relating to the field of business administration and management,
- apply scientific methods based on business administration and management problem formulations,
- communicate research results both orally and in writing in an academic and professional manner,
- demonstrate a critical and reflective approach to scientific methods including the ability to evaluate empirical material,
- identify and discuss ethical aspects of business administration and management research
Course Content
The course covers basic questions in social science research with special focus on organisational and corporate aspects. Using theoretical frameworks and concepts, the course introduces a scientific approach. In small scale research projects, approaches and methods to solve business administration and management problems are applied.
Assessment
Assessment 1: Group assignment with oral presentation at a seminar and written submission, 2 credits
Assessment 2: Written exam, 2.5 credits
Assessment 3: Written group assignment, public discussion and examination at a seminar, 3 credits
Assessment 2: Written exam, 2.5 credits

The Swedish grades U–VG.
Assessment 1: U-G
Assessments 2 & 3: U-VGTo pass the course with distinction (VG), students must achieve VG in assessments 2 and 3.
Prerequisites
- 15 credits in Business Administration undergraduate level

Assessments of each performance are made only during the time period shown in the presented study guide.
Students must be able to account for their involvement in and contribution to the group assignments.
This course cannot be included in a degree that contains any of the following courses: FÖ1019, FÖ1035, FÖ1045 and FÖ1067.
