Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Identify and argue for a relevant research topic within the field of Business Administration.
- Present a theoretical frame of reference, which is consistent with the study’s research question.
- Argue for the chosen research method, identify, collect, evaluate and interpret the collected information.
- Analyze and draw conclusions in line with the research question(s) and theoretical frame of reference.
- In writing and orally present the thesis in a clear and relevant way, and critically examine and discuss other students’ manuscripts.
- Cooperate with others and demonstrate a high degree of independence in the planning, conducting and reporting of a thesis.
- Demonstrate a critical and reflective approach in their work and in relation to social and ethical issues.
- Demonstrate knowledge within an area of Business Administration including relevant literature and research methods.
Course Content
This course teaches students
to independently identify a research question and to plan and conduct a study
in a scientific manner. Supervision sessions and seminars offer the students
opportunities to discuss different ways to define and delimit research problems,
choose theoretical stances,
methods, and data collection techniques. During the course, the students will practice the development
of conceptual models and how to
collect and analyze relevant information. The
final thesis must be
written in accordance with established scientific principles. The thesis will be orally presented at seminars that also
include opposition of other students’ thesis manuscripts.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of the chosen thesis topic and serving as opponents on other students’ selected topic, defense and opposition of another thesis manuscript. Written Bachelor’s thesis and oral presentation of the final version of the thesis. (15 credit)
Forms of Study
Lectures, supervision and mandatory seminars.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
The final grade for the course is set after an overall assessment by the examiner.
Prerequisites
- 135 credits, of which at least 60 credits are in the main field of study Business Administration and include a 7.5 credit course in Method

The number of examination attempts is limited to
five. The thesis must be submitted at the time specified by the examiner.
Assessments are only made at specified examination dates. A thesis is commonly written by two students. However, each author
must be prepared to describe their own contribution.
Students who are admitted and registered for the course are entitled to supervision during the course period to which they are admitted. Revised manuscripts and amendments must be submitted no later than the time specified by the examiner.
The course replaces FÖ2013, FÖ2018 and FÖ2023.
