Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- explain the basic concepts from the field of organisational theory
- conduct basic analyses of organisations.
Course Content
The course has two modules: “Concepts and Theory“ and “Applied Analysis“
The course introduces and examines fundamental concepts and theories on structure, culture, work organisation, communication, power and conflict, and leadership and management.
These emergence of these concepts and theories is presented and discussed with regard to their historical and contemporary context.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To receive the grade VG on the full course, students must achieve a VG on the first module and G on the second module.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Concepts and Theories - 4.5 Credits | U–VG
- Applied analysis - 3 Credits | U–G
Prerequisites
- General entry requirements. No knowledge of Swedish is required
Other Information
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
