Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
account for the concepts and problems of existentialism,
analyze the conditions of human existence from an existentialist perspective,
problematize and critically discuss the presuppositions of existentialism from a philosophical point of view.
Course Content
The course presents a historically oriented overview of the motivations, concepts and problems of existentialism. Existentialist accounts of e.g. freedom, responsibility, authenticity, alienation, boredom and anguish are analyzed through close reading of excerpts from the works of the existentialist thinkers. The presuppositions and prospects of existentialism are problematized from a philosophical point of view througout the course.

The grading scale used for the final course grade is A–F.

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement.
