Learning Outcomes
- interact in spoken French in simple everyday situations
- read short, simple texts on familiar topics in French and answer questions about these
- write their own texts in French on familiar topics
- show some knowledge of the language structure of French
- express themselves orally in French in very simple situations.
Course Content
The course includes listening comprehension, reading of simple texts, work on pronunciation and vocabulary, and varied oral and written exercises. Grammar studies are included so that students develop both language skills and the ability to reflect on and analyze the structure of the language. Students are also introduced to various learning theories, which promotes reflection on the learning process.
Assessment
The course is assessed continuously through oral performance at seminars, written assignments and recording assignments, as well as through a final exam.
Forms of Study
The course is taught through seminars that are central to the course and where students are expected to participate actively. Emphasis is placed on oral communication. Instruction is in French and Swedish.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required in both modules 1 and 2.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Written examination - 4 cr
Module 2: Oral examination - 3.5 cr

Other Information
This course is intended for students who have no previous knowledge of French.
To be able to take the course the student requires knowledge of Swedish.
