Learning Outcomes
- interact orally and in writing in everyday contexts in French
- apply basic skills in French grammar in grammatical analyses and in this way demonstrate proficiency in the structure of French
- read the main contents of short authentic texts and answer questions about these
- write their own short texts in French
- demonstrate basic knowledge of French society as well as of the French-speaking world.
Course Content
The course aims to develop the students‘ basic knowledge of French. It includes a varied study of the French language. This includes exercises in understanding spoken French; pronunciation and communication training; reading texts; work with vocabulary; and writing proficiency. The written part comprises both grammar studies and free writing. Cultural aspects of the French-speaking world are also examined.
Assessment
The course is assessed continuously through oral performance in seminars, written assignments, and recording assignments, as well as through a final exam.
Forms of Study
The course is taught through seminars that are central to the course and where students are expected to participate actively. Some assignments require the ability to work together with other students. Instruction is in French.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade VG for the whole course, VG is required on modules 1 and 2.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Oral examination - 3.5 cr
Module 2: Written examination - 4 cr
