Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding
Upon completion of the course, students shall be able to
  • Describe project management models, and their phases, roles – including areas of responsibility – and work duties. 
  • Describe agile system development models, and their phases, roles – including areas of responsibility – and work duties.
  • Explain basic concepts in budget management, in particular in connection to budget management in IT projects
Competence and Skills
Upon completion of the course, students shall be able to
  • Use a selection of tools, techniques and methods for managing components of the IT project
Judgement and Approach
Upon completion of the course, students shall be able to
  • Discuss and reflect on the effects of a business upon the introduction of an IT system.

Course Content

The course looks at project management and system development models, and their phases, roles – including areas of responsibility – and work duties that need to be initiated, planned, implemented, followed up and completed in each phase and of each role.  Further, the course covers the budgeting of IT projects as well as different tools, techniques, methods and documents that can be used in each phase of each role for them to be able to perform their tasks. The course concludes with a project in which students initiate and plan a small IT project and the effects it  has when introduced into a business.

Assessment

A written examination (1.5 credits) and active participation in seminars (1 credit), workshops (3 credits) and projects (2 credits) that are presented in writing and orally.

Lectures, workshops, exercises, compulsory seminars, presentations and projects.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–G.

Prerequisites

  • General entry requirements and Mathematics 2a or 2b or 2c, Social Sciences 1b or 1a1 + 1a2
