Knowledge and understanding
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

Competence and skills
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • use appropriate structure and semantics for websites
  • develop functional web components
  • use notation and architecture that promote code reusability and the scalability of websites

Course Content

The course covers basic HTML and CSS, such as elements, attributes, nesting, document layout, sectioning, linking, declarations, properties, values and the cascade. In addition, the role of HTML and CSS in web development is described, as well as the general factors that are crucial for websites to be responsive, scalable and optimised.

The course also covers CSS techniques for responsive web design and how the rendering process affects our ability to construct websites.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–G.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Assignments - 4 Credits | U–G
  • Project - 3.5 Credits | U–G

Prerequisites

  • General entry requirements and Mathematics 2a or 2b or 2c, Social Sciences 1b or 1a1 + 1a2

Other Information

Teaching and materials may occur in English.

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
