Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students shall be able to:
- describe the most important basic features of the Italian language and its grammar
- apply the most important basic elements of Italian grammar
- use the grammar textbook and a bilingual dictionary to read and write simple and short texts in Italian
- communicate in spoken and written language using an elementary vocabulary
- at an elementary level, explain the main features of Italy‘s history, geography, and social relationships, also in comparison with other countries
- at an elementary level, understand and discuss, orally and in writing, Italian cultural and social aspects based on the material used in the course
- identify their need for additional knowledge and skills in the subject.

Modules
This sub-course contains a basic introduction to Italian grammar through elementary writing, listening, and pronunciation exercises, as well as working with vocabulary, also in connection with the reading of texts. The sub-course also includes an introduction to aspects of Italian culture and social life.
The sub-course builds on the knowledge acquired in sub-course 1 and is a continuation of the basic introduction to Italian grammar. The sub-course contains elementary writing, listening, and pronunciation exercises, as well as work with vocabulary, also in connection with the reading of texts. It also provides a continued introduction to Italian culture and social life.
Assessment
Students are assessed through active participation in seminars and a final written and oral examination for each module.
Forms of Study
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, students must achieve VG on at least 12 credits.

Sub-course 1, module 2: Final oral examination A - 2.5 cr
Sub-course 1, module 3: Final written examination A - 3 cr

Prerequisites
- General entry requirements. No knowledge of Swedish is required
Other Information
Teaching is web-based and implements the use of a learning platform and digital tools. Students require a computer with sound card and network connection, headset with microphone and headphones, as well as a stand-alone webcam.
This course cannot be part of the main field of Italian in a degree.
