Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students shall be able to:
- speak Italian effortlessly and reasonably correctly with regard to pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary
- indentify and characterise different regional variants and registers in authentic spoken Italian
- understand and use the main linguistic and pragmatic structures necessary in formal situations
- apply idiomatic expressions and an adequate language register in longer presentations
- problematise and discuss Italian cultural and social conditions from different perspectives, for example environmental, gender and ethnicity issues
- independently seek and screen information in relevant texts and media documents.
Course Content
The course develops the students‘ listening comprehension and communicative competences in Italian under interactive forms. In addition, the course allows for a deeper understanding of Italian cultural and social issues through the reading and discussion of texts with diverse content (fact-oriented, fiction, etc.).
Assessment
Continuous assessment of active participation during seminars and oral presentations in groups and individually.
Forms of Study
Obligatory seminars in which students shall participate actively and interact with their fellow students. The language of instruction is Italian.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required in both modules.

Module 1: Active Participation in Seminars - 4.5 cr
Module 2: Assignments - 3 cr

- Italian A: Phonetics and Oral Proficiency, 7.5 credits, Italian A: Grammar and Written Proficiency, 7.5 credits and one of the Italian A: Text Analysis courses, 7.5 credits
