Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- use Chinese proficiently in professional business activities
- use appropriate expressions in various social contexts and at a workplace
- use appropriate expressions in everyday work in business life
- use appropriate expressions in business negotiations and the drawing up of contracts, in discussions about collaboration, and in analyses of market trends
- describe briefly the characteristics of Chinese business culture and business life, including trade, market environment, marketing, and the establishment of business relations.
Course Content
The focus of the course is on advanced communication skills in a business context. The course provides opportunities for students to practise how to communicate professionally in Chinese in various business settings. The course also includes discussion about relevant aspects of culture, traditions, and business knowledge, as well as the fundamentals of business rules and etiquette.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
For a final course grade of VG (Pass with Credit), students must achieve VG for at least 5.5 credits, including the module Written examination.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Chinese language proficiency for business 1 - 2 Credits | U–VG
- Chinese language proficiency for business 2 - 2 Credits | U–VG
- Chinese language proficiency for business 3 - 2 Credits | U–VG
- Written examination - 1.5 Credits | U–VG
Entry Requirements
- 60 credits in the main field of study Chinese
Other Information
The language of instruction is Chinese, and Swedish or English is used when necessary.
This course overlaps the course Chinese for Business: Professional Communication, 15 credits.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
