Learning Outcomes
The overall aim of the course is that students develop a theory-critical basis that prepares them to understand the complex nature of social relations.
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of theories on social relations, conflict and power in relation to different social arenas
- demonstrate the ability, as based on the theories of the course, to analyse, problematise and communicate issues related to social relations in school and other social arenas relevant to everyday school life
- demonstrate familiarity with relational professional ethics and school values
- demonstrate the ability to communicate and reflect on issues related to identity, sexuality and relationships
- reflect on their own position as an educational leader and the school as a moral arena as based on the theoretical perspective of the course
- demonstrate the ability to use the above theories and experiences in their own teaching to reflect on ways to prevent and counter discrimination and other forms of degrading treatment of pupils.
