Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- discuss the literary structure and content of a selection of works from contemporary literature in Portuguese from different continents
- analyse literary texts by relating their content to their aesthetic, socio-cultural and political contexts
- describe a number of literary perspectives, terminology and methodologies for literary analyses
- present literary analyses, orally and in writing, in Portuguese.
Course Content
The course involves the study of contemporary literary texts in Portuguese from different continents. The literary structure and content of the texts will be studied and discussed both orally and in writing in relation to the aesthetic, socio-cultural and historical contexts in which the texts were produced. The course introduces a number of theoretical perspectives in the field of literary studies, basic terminology and methodology for literary analyses.

Forms of Study
Lectures and obligatory seminars. Portuguese is the language of instruction.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required in both modules.

- Written Assignments - 3 cr
- Discussions and Oral Presentations - 4,5 cr

- 30 credits in the main field of study of Portuguese
