Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students shall be able to:

  • ask and answer simple questions in Russian related to a number of everyday situations
  • apply basic rules of Russian phonology
  • pronounce the sounds of the Russian language correctly
  • read and type Cyrillic letters on a computer
  • use basic grammatical terms and identify simple grammatical structures in Russian
  • read short texts in Russian about everyday topics.

Course Content

The course includes practice of language skills like listening comprehension, speaking, reading comprehension and writing. Grammar studies are included so that students develop the ability to master the language structure.

Assessment

Continuous assessment of active participation in seminars and written assignments, as well as through a final oral and written test.

Forms of Study

English and/or Swedish are used as support languages, but Russian is used as the language of instruction as much as possible. Instruction is conducted in group activities and obligatory seminars.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required for at least 5 credits.

Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Phonetics and phonology - 2.5 cr
Module 2: Bacis oral language proficiency 1 - 2.5 cr
Module 3: Basic written language proficiency 1 - 2.5 cr

  • General entry requirements
  • No knowledge of Swedish is required.
