Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students shall be able to:
- read and write Cyrillic letters on a computer
- understand clearly spoken Russian about familiar topics
- participate in Russian conversations about everyday situations
- read and write short texts on everyday subjects in Russian
- apply basic rules of Russian phonology
- pronounce Russian sounds correctly
- use basic grammatical terms and identify simple grammatical structures in Russian
- use parts of basic Russian grammar correctly.
Course Content
Assessment
Continuous assessment of active participation in seminars and written assignments, as well as through an oral and a written final test.
Forms of Study
English and/or Swedish are used as support languages, but Russian is used as the language of instruction as much as possible. Instruction is conducted in group activities and obligatory seminars.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required for at least 10 credits.
Reporting of Grades:
Module 1: Phonetics and phonology - 2.5 cr
Module 2: Reading comprehension - 2.5 cr
Module 3: Basic oral language proficiency - 5 cr
Module 4: Basic written language proficiency - 5 cr
Prerequisites
- General entry requirements. No knowledge of Swedish is required
