Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- demonstrate systematised knowledge of the structure of Russian in terms of phonetics, morphology, syntax and lexicon
- analyse various linguistic phenomena in Russian in comparison with Swedish in terms of phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic features
- use Russian and Swedish grammatical concepts when analysing the structure of Russian
- perform phonetic, grammatical and lexical analyses of multilingual students‘ Russian language development.
Course Content
In the course, the structure of Russian is studied in a language-typological and cross-linguistic perspective, in terms of mainly phonetics, morphology, syntax and lexicon where contrastive elements between Russian and Swedish occur. Special emphasis is on the difficulties of learning Russian as a mother tongue in a limited language environment. Learners‘ language use is analysed.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, students require VG on at least 9 credits.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Seminars and Oral Presentations - 6 Credits | U–VG
- Written Analyses and Assignments - 6 Credits | U–VG
- Written Home Examination - 3 Credits | U–VG

Other Information
The languages of instruction are Russian and Swedish.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
