Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- describe the Swedish political system and its historical emergence and development
- describe what characterises Swedish political culture
- examine characteristics of the Swedish political system in light of social developments and current political issues.
Course Content
The course provides an overall perspective on the Swedish political system and what characterizes Swedish political culture. The course engages with Sweden‘s constitutional design, governance and decision-making and the central features of the Swedish administrative model. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity to discuss challenges and trends and how these affect the functioning and characteristics of the Swedish system in terms of democracy, efficiency and legitimacy.

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
