Learning Outcomes
The course aims to develop students‘ knowledge and understanding of modern Spanish literature and their ability to relate literary works to a historical and cultural context.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- read and interpret the content of texts from different Spanish-speaking countries
- analyse literary texts using literary concepts
- argue for their own interpretations of literary works in a correct, clear and cohesive way, both orally and in writing
- demonstrate an understanding of Spanish literary expressions by, both orally and in writing, placing the literary text into a larger historical and socio-cultural context.
Course Content
The course includes the study of modern literature from the Spanish-speaking world and covers Spanish and Spanish-American literary expressions from the 20th and 21st centuries. A selection of texts from various genres are covered using basic literary concepts. The works are put in relation to their historical, cultural and sociopolitical contexts.

Forms of Study
Obligatory seminars. The language of instruction is Spanish.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.

Prerequisites
- General entry requirements and Spanish 3. No knowledge of Swedish is required
