Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- discuss the main content of authentic texts that are about known subjects
- explain the main content of authentic speech in everyday contexts
- interact orally and in writing in Spanish in both planned and spontaneous situations
- demonstrate basic knowledge of the grammatical structures of Spanish and apply these in oral and written assignments
- analyse the differences between Swedish and Spanish, in particular with regard to pronunciation and grammar
- discuss certain aspects of culture and social life in the Spanish-speaking world.
Course Content
The course aims to develop students’ basic knowledge of Spanish and thereby prepare them for further studies of Spanish at university. The course includes reading, pronunciation and vocabulary, listening comprehension exercises, and oral and written exercises. Basic skills in Spanish grammar are applied in grammatical analyses and contrastive exercises. The course introduces students to certain aspects of culture and society in the Spanish-speaking world.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, students require a VG in the modules Oral presentation, Written assignment, and Online examination.

- Language proficiency 2 - 1 Credit | U–VG
- Language proficiency 3 - 1 Credit | U–VG
- Language proficiency 4 - 1 Credit | U–VG

Successful completion of this course provides the entry requirements to further studies in the main field of study Spanish at Dalarna University.
This course overlaps the courses Spanish Basic Course, 15 credits and Spanish: Basic Course, 7.5 credits.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
