Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- apply specialised knowledge of Swedish grammar and vocabulary in speech and writing
- understand and analyse different types of texts, including a work of fiction
- express themselves using good pronunciation in different conversational situations and solve communication problems that arise in conversation
- write different types of texts in Swedish, and reflect on and work to develop these
- demonstrate knowledge about Swedish culture and society.
Course Content
The course has a communicative and certain level of linguistic focus. During the course, students complete a piece of work that focuses on Swedish grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. They read and analyse various types of texts, including a work of fiction. Themes about Swedish culture and society are discussed and compared with cultures and societies familiar to the students. Through productive and perceptive tasks as well as interactive classroom activities, students practise their grammar skills and ability to solve problems in various types of conversational situations and in their writing in Swedish.

- Supervised written individual exam at a location or online
Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To receive the grade VG (Pass with Credit) for the entire course, students must receive a VG on both modules.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Pronunciation, prosody and oral presentation - 3.5 Credits | U–VG
- Grammar and written presentation - 4 Credits | U–VG
Entry Requirements
- Basic Swedish as a second language II (level CEFR A2.2), 7.5 credits
Other Information
This courser overlaps the course Beginner Studies in Swedish for International Students III, 7.5 credits.
For the web-based course, students need to be able to communicate with sound and image using a computer or equivalent.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
