Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is for students to develop basic theoretical knowledge of general grammar and of German grammar, as well as skills in using correct German in speech and writing.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- apply German morphology and essential parts of syntax
- comment on and explain morphology and syntax in authentic texts
- reflect on their own learning.
Course Content
The course covers basic elements of general grammar and German grammar through the use of written application exercises. It includes the analysis of sentence structure, grammatical constructions and phraseology in varying texts. The application exercises also include practise in the explanation of grammatical contexts, and in locating and correcting simple linguistic errors.
Assessment
Continuous assessment of active participation in seminars and written assignments.
Forms of Study
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, students must achieve VG in at least 4.5 credits.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Basic grammar - 1.5 cr
Module 2: German Grammar I - 3 cr
Module 3: German Grammar II - 3 cr
