1. Human, Science and Worldview, 9 Credits
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- demonstrate basic knowledge of concepts and theories in social sciences, natural sciences and technology
- account for and reflect on ideological perspectives on human living conditions and worldview
- demonstrate good familiarity with and reflect on the development of technology and its impact on human’s worldview and human existence
- demonstrate basic knowledge of scientific activities and working methods
from a natural science and social science perspective.
2. A Sustainable World, 10.5 Credits
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- demonstrate basic knowledge of ecological sustainability and the relationship
between environment, population growth and resource utilisation in a global
and a local perspective - relate sustainable development to social sustainability by showing familiarity
with and reflecting on diversity, power and value based issues - problematise ethical aspects of the relationship between the individual, society,
nature and technology - demonstrate good familiarity with and reflect on the syllabi of social sciences,
natural sciences and technology based on the purpose, central content and
knowledge requirements - demonstrate basic knowledge of education for sustainable development in
pre school class and primary school years 1 3.
3. Place, Identity and Learning, 10.5 Credits
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- apply scientific methods by planning, conducting, critically examining and
documenting social science, natural science and technology studies - demonstrate basic knowledge of how natural science and social science
methods, models and theories can be used in teaching - demonstrate good familiarity with and reflect on the syllabi of social sciences, natural sciences and technology based on purpose, central content and knowledge requirements
- demonstrate knowledge of teaching theories in the subject courses and the ability to independently and critically reflect on them
- demonstrate insight into how neighbourhoods, first hand experiences, aesthetics and digital technology can be used in teaching to strengthen
- pupils’ learning, and in a critical and reflective manner discuss their possibilities and challenges.
