Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students shall be able to:
- account for different organisational forms and organisational theories
- analyse and understand group processes
- analyse and determine the effectiveness of different leadership styles in different situations
- account for different theories on the development of groups
- account for different leadership theories and models
- show understanding of the leadership and the situation for those in leadership positions in different types of organisations.
Course Content
The course uses a sociological perspective to analyse different types of organisations and processes. Furthermore, group dynamics are dealt with in terms of the following: goals, motivation,, norms, power, roles, stages, leadership styles, problem-solving and conflict management. Theories of leadership are applied to both non-profit and professional organisations. Methodology is addressed with special focus on interviews.

Lectures, mandatory seminars, group dynamic exercises and field studies.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
