Learning Outcomes
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- analyze and evaluate nursing theories and concepts related to current research on person-centered care
- describe the epistemological basis for person-centered care
- analyze and apply advanced knowledge in person-centered care for persons with dementia
- analyze the meaning of sustainable development in relation to intersectionality, cultural aspects and laws on safe care for persons with dementia
- search, analyze and apply current national and international research in the caring sciences related to dementia care.
Course Content
- Epistemological and ontological aspects of person-centered care.
- Review and assessment of current national and international research in the caring sciences related to dementia care.
- Intersectionality in relation to equitable care.
- Legal safety in the care of persons with dementia.
Assessment
Written individual examination, and seminars with related study assignments. Exams will be individual and in groups.
Forms of Study
Lectures, mandatory seminars and individual assignments.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–G.
Number of credtis:
- Seminars, 3 credits, U - G
- Examination, 4.5 credits, U - VG
Seminars: active participation in all seminars and assignments related to these.
Examination: individual written home examination.
Prerequisites
- A Bachelor´s degree comprising at least 60 credits, including 15 credits thesis, in Caring Science/Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Medical Science, Public Health

The course is a distance course that is conducted on a virtual learning platform. This means no physical meetings on campus.
