When you donate blood, you are of course doing something extremely important that benefits others. It’s good to know then that Dalarna University allows its employees to give blood during their paid working hours. Health and Wellness Allowance (Friskvårdsbidrag)
Your health and wellness allowance is SEK 2 000 per annum. Note, however, that if you have been employed for less than one semester, this allowance is calculated relative to the extent of your employment.

If you are employed for a minimum of 50%, you are entitled to spend one hour of paid working time per week on a health and wellness activity.

Dalarna University has its own social activities association, which arranges various events and activities all year round where you have a chance to meet colleagues from all parts of the organisation.

Parental Benefits
In addition to the parental benefit paid by Försäkringskassan, government employees also receive a supplement from the University. You can also choose to work part-time up until the time your child turns 12.

Hot Drinks and Fruit
You have access to free coffee, tea and hot chocolate at your workplace. You are also entitled to free fruit which is delivered to every lunchroom once a week.

There are a number of circumstances that permit you to be absent from work without a deduction in your salary. Some examples are if you move house, have a doctor's appointment, plan to attend your own graduation, need to attend the funeral of a relative or are involved with the inventory of someone’s estate after their death.

Both Borlänge and Falun have several gyms and other types of sport facilities. As a Dalarna University employee, you can receive a discount on a range of memberships and sport activities.

Discount on Bus Cards
If you have a minimum 12-month contract, you can buy a bus card at a discounted price that will allow you to travel with Dalatrafik. The cost is deducted from your salary, and you can share your bus card with family members.
Vacation Days
We offer more vacation days than most other employers:
- Up to and including the year you reach the age of 29: 28 vacation days
- From and including the year you reach the age of 30: 31 vacation days
- From and including the year you reach the age of 40: 35 vacation days
Sickness Benefit
As a government employee, you receive a high amount of sick benefit for a certain period.
Ergonomic and Computer Screen Equipment
You have access to a range of ergonomic and computer screen equipment at no cost to you. You are also entitled to a free eye examination and, if you need them, a pair of free computer glasses.
