Last week, Senior Lecturer Mariya Aida Niendorf visited Turku University of Applied Science (TUAS) to take part in the International Language Week 2024, which TUAS had co-organised with German university Ashaffenburg University of Applied Sciences. The event was funded by Erasmus+.
The theme of this year’s event was “Bridging Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) through Multilingualism and Cultural Understanding” and more than 120 people from various parts of the world took part in the event.
The event included a welcome reception by the city of Turku at the City Hall, daily research presentations at the modern building on the TUAS campus, and a one-day cruise to Mariehamn with workshops and the conference dinner onboard.
At the event, Mariya presented her paper titled “Issues and Initiatives in Teaching a Course on Culture: The Case of a Japanese Culture Course at a Swedish University as an Example”.
