The goal of the wellness allowance is to have healthier employees, increased well-being, a better work environment and higher quality in the organisation.
The wellness allowance is a maximum of SEK 2 000 per year. From 2025, changes have been made to the compensation for the wellness allowance.
The following applies from 1 January 2025:
- For temporary employees, 1/12 of the allowance is granted per month for as long as the employment continues.
- For employees with employment below 50%, the allowance is halved. See the table in the document Wellness allowance 2025
- Parental leave and sick leave do not affect the wellness allowance.
- In the event of leave of absence (e.g. for studies or for work with another employer), the allowance is reduced accordingly.
- If you have been employed for less than a year, the compensation is calculated in relation to the period of employment
You must submit your receipt for this years wellness allowance no later than 5 of December. If you submit your receipt later, it will be deducted from next year's wellness allowance.
To receive your allowance, you first need to buy (for example) your gym pass. Next, go to Primula and on “My page” in the left menu, click on “Health and Wellness Allowance”. Type in the information, submit the form electronically and print out a copy. Send the printed copy with the original receipt to HR.
Wide Choice of Activities
Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) decides which fitness and wellness activities the University can include in this allowance.
Here are some examples of approved activities:
- Apps for fitness and wellness
- Discgolf
- Football
- Gym membership and passes
- Innebandy
- Choir singing
- Dance
- Nicotine-withdrawal aids
- Horse riding
- Starting fee for a race (running, walking, etc.)
- Sport fishing
- Zumba

Other Health and Wellness Benefits
In addition to the health and wellness allowance, you can also receive discounts or price reductions at several local gyms and sport facilities. You are also entitled to use up to one hour of your paid working week for a fitness activity (see the webpage Health and Wellness Hour – Friskvårdstimme).
