Generative AI (GAI) – how does it apply to students?

Dalarna University has a new policy for generative AI (GAI), which came into effect on 10 February 2025.

The policy provides guidance on how GAI may be used in a responsible and ethical manner in education, in research and in other ways at the university.

If you are a student, you may use GAI to help you in your learning, but you must always comply with laws and ethical rules. For example, you may not share sensitive personal data or copyrighted material.

GAI can be a useful support, but it does not replace your own critical thinking. Remember to consider carefully how you use GAI so that you you do so responsibly in your studies, and always ensure that you use GAI in accordance with the instructions for an assignment.

On the page "Copilot for students", you can read about how to use GAI in your learning and what is important to keep in mind.
