I am head of the Arabic Department. I teach courses on the Arabic language and literature. My research deals with Arabic literature and the didactics of teaching literature.
I begun my studies of Arabic at The School of Oriental and African Studies in London. During my time at SOAS I spent time as an exchange student in Syria. I completed my PhD in 2017 at Edinburgh University with a dissertation on Syrian literature.
I teach courses on the Arabic language and literature. I also teach courses within the MA programs on Intercultural Literary Studies and African Studies.
My research deals with diffrent aspects of modern Arabic literature. I mainly work with modern Syrian literature, often with a gender perspective. I am also interested in Arabic childrens literature and didactic questions regarding literature.
